Entertainer, Actor, and Comedian. He was known as part of a husband-wife duo act with Eydie Gormé for a long career on Broadway, on television, and in movies. He was raised in Brooklyn, where he began singing on demonstration records while in high school. He met his future wife, Eydie Gormé, as a young singer on Steve Allen's late-night New York City television show that became "The Tonight Show," and they married in 1957. He served two years in uniform as a vocalist with the U.S. Army Band and Orchestra. A string of Top Ten hits began in 1957 with"Party Doll," which was followed by "Pretty Blue Eyes," "Footsteps," "Portrait of My Love," and 1963's #1 hit "Go Away Little Girl." Making numerous appearances on television, in film, and on the Broadway stage, he was nominated for a Tony Award and won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award in 1964 for the lead role in "What Makes Sammy Run?" Steve and Eydie won a Grammy Award and two Emmy Awards, and he won two additional Emmys on his own. He passed away from complications from Alzheimer's Disease.
