DAVENPORT - Ed Bolton, 71, of Davenport died on Thursday, November 13, 2008, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Bolton was born in Shell Rock, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Alice Bolton. He married Ruth Loney on May 6, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a self-employed sign maker in the Quad-City area, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed playing blue grass music with his 5-string banjo.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; daughters, Twylah Hill of New Hartford, Iowa, and Darllah (Michael) Simmons of Davenport; sons, Derrik (Debbie) Bolton of Davenport and Dion (Fred) Bolton of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Edwinna and Mary.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanjilah, a brother, Jerry, and a son-in-law, John.
