Samuel Walter Lane of Lewistown died at the home of Mr. Ira Cromwell, 113 Fifth Street Highland Park, Lewistown, at 8:25 a. m. Tuesday, October 16, 1956. He suffered a heart attack and his death was unexpected. Mr. Lane was born in Robertsdale on February 25, 1882 a son of Lemuel and May (Park) Lane. He was united in marriage to Bertha B. Hershey in 1903. Mrs. Lane preceded him in death 47 years ago in 1909. The deceased was a member of the Highland Park Fire Company and an associate member of the Textile Workers Union of America, Local No. 6, Lewistown. He had been a section foreman for the East Broad Top Railroad Company for 2 years and later served 19 years with the American Viscose Company in Lewistown retiring in 1947. Surviving are one son, Carl A. Lane of 631 Highland Avenue, Lewistown; one daughter Mrs. Raymond (Emma) Park Three springs; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Lane was one of a family of 10; only one of whom is surviving, Charles Lane Bellwood. Funeral services will be at p. m. Friday, October 19. at the McClain funeral home, Cassville. Friends will be received at the Cromwell home in Lewistown this evening and at the funeral home from 2 p. m. Thursday until the hour of services.
