Jacob was born in Florida, New York, Orange County. He was a son of William Cole and Anna Osterhout, who eventually removed to Webster , NY, Monroe County. He married Emmeline Dunning 7 Feb 1839, probally in Webster. She passed away after 1870. He re-married a second time in Webster, NY. Nothing more is known of her at this time. He came to Florida, to live with his daughter Marilla Hayberger ( wife of Perry Hayberger).
