Genevieve "Geni" (Freed) Reents, 79, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died at her home in Wellsburg on Tursday, March 27, 2008.
Funeral services 10:30 a.m. on Monday. March 31, 2008 at Ivester Church of the Bretheran, rural Grundy Center, with Pastor Bruce Zimmermann of St. John Lutheran Church officiating. Burial at Sheller Cemetery. Visitation from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg.
Geni was born June 23, 1928 in Eldora, daughter of Leo W. and Mabel E. (Danger) Freed. She was raised near Whitten, attending country school and graduating from Whitten High School. On September 6, 1948, Geni was united in marriage to Bernard C. Reents at Ivester Church of the Bretheran. They made their home in rural Wellsburg where they farmed and raised their family of five children. She was a member of Ivester Church of the Bretheran.
She is survived by four sons, Richard John (Jane) Reents of Wauconda, Illinois, David (Elaine) Reents of Wellsburg, Joe D. (Sharon) Reents of Wellsburg, and Michael (Denise) Reents of Wellsburg; one daughter, Mabel "Pip" (Henry) Noyes of Anamosa; one brother, Lynn (Sherry) Freed of Rapid City, South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Velda Freed of Des Moines, and Harriet (Marlen)Berghuis of New Providence; fifteen grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Preceeding her in death was her husband Bernard on January 7, 1991; her parents; two brothers, Harvey and Dale "Frog" Freed; and one sister, ida Marie.
