She married George Washington Knight in 1862 in Brown County, IL.

They had nine children; Infant, Martha Louisa, Margaret Mary, George Jackson 'Jack', Lillie May, Mary Jane 'Jennie', Charles Lee, Dona E., and Louis Oliver 'Ollie'.

Mary Ann Francis Knight born near Clayton, Illinois, April 30, 1845 and departed this life July 19, 1931, at the home of her son George Jackson Knight and wife of Pea Ridge Township. She was the daughter of Louisa and Joseph Francis and the last of the family of children.Be at the time of her death, 86 years, 2 months, and 19 days old . She was united in marriage to George Knight 1862. To this union was born eleven children. Her husband and six children preceded her in death.Five children are left to mourn her departure, Mrs. Maggie Clark of Hastings, Iowa, George Jackson Knight of Camp Point, Mr. J. McClain of West Point, Mr. Gill of LaPrairie and Olley Knight of Clayton.There are 36 grand children, (?) great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.Aunt Mary as most everyone called her, spent most of her long life in Brown County, Illinois and had many friends.Her life was full of hard work and many griefs [sic] but she bore them cheerfully. She testified to a remarkable brightness even in the valley of death.She bore her suffering with great patience, being in failing health for two years.She was a faithful member of Poe Baptist Church for a number of years, not being able to attend church. She spent much of her time reading the Bible.Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock in Poe Church, interment was in Knight cemetery just north of the church. Rev. E. N. Wisely officiated.
