Gladys Mae Winder, 88, of Roodhouse died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born Sept. 9, 1911, in Scott County, the daughter of Jess and Margaret Hoots Templin. She married John Yearley Winder in 1930 in Pittsfield; he preceded her in death in 1962. A son, Robert Winder, and an infant son, Benjamin, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Winder worked for Mobil Chemical for 10 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member and gold star mother of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 373 in Roodhouse.
Survivors: nine daughters; 32 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise (husband, Jim) Young of Roodhouse and Margaret Sutzer of Springfield. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Roodhouse. Burial: Winchester City Cemetery.
