Danville, Ia., April 28, 1909.--Henry Coad, son of John and Jennie Coad, was born in Saltsburg, Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, Febrary 24, 1829, and died at his home in Danville, Iowa, April 27, 1909, aged 80 years 2 months and 3 days.

He came from Pennsylvania to Des Moines county, Iowa, with his parents, in April, 1844, where he has since resided. About fifty five years of this time was spent on the farm a mile and three quarters northeast of Danville, having left the farm recently and moved to the beautiful new home in Danville, but he has gone to that blessed home above where no changing scenes common to this life are known.

Mr. Coad was united in marriage to Miss Marla Josephine Riffel on Jan 22, 1855. To this union were born twelve children--eight daughters and four sons: Mrs. Ellen Lotspeich, of Somers, Ia., Jasper and Alfred Coad, of Cawker City, Kan.; Mrs. Lillie Marchant, of Tustin, Cal.; Mrs. Flora Foster, of Skidmore, Mo.; Mrs. Anna Mix, Mrs. Jennie Seaton, Louis, Grace and Maud, of Danville, Ia. Two children preceded the father to the home beyond--a son in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Alice Cady, on December 17, 1892.

Father Coad was converted at the age of fifteen years, and united with the Baptist church of Saltsburg, Pa., but on March 4, 1856, he united with the Danville Baptist church, and has since that time sought to lead a true, devoted, conscientious, Christian life.

He is the last of a family of thirteen children. It was his privilege to live to see his family grown to manhood and womanhood, and his desire for them was that they might know the fullness of a life surrender to the Master of men.
The bereaved wife and ten children, 28 grand children and 58 great grandchildren, indeed have sorrow, but still we sorrow not as those who have no hope.

The funeral services were held at the Baptist church, Thursday afternoon. Interment at the Jagger cemetery.
