She was born and raised in Burley, Idaho, where she attended elementary and high school. After completing high school, she moved to Tucson where she later met and married Dean Jones. They began raising their family in Farmington, N.M., then came to Williams, Snowflake and Show Low. Zelda and Dean divorced in 1980. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Houston, Texas, in 1981. She married Owen Torrey in 1983. He preceded her in death. Zelda was a homemaker most of her life. She loved her children and grandchildren and she loved to feed people. She was a lifelong member of the Church ofJesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in the various organizations of the church.
She is survied by three sons, Kenneth Dean Jones, of Snowflake, Norman Lee Jones of Taylor, and Eldon Ray Jones of Show Low; four daughters, Karen Martinueau of Joseph City, Nancy Montgomery of Snowflake, Evelyn Hall of Taylor and Lois Mariner of Gilbert; two brothers, Don H. Peterson of Utah and Byron L. Peterson of Show Low; two sisters, Leona Carlson and Luella Haycock, both of Burley, Idaho; 34 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
