Medford Lucille (Green) Behling, 97, passed away April 25, 2008 in the home of her caring granddaughter, Kim Frey, New Lexington, Ohio. Born May 30, 1910 in Boone, NC. She was a member of Westerville Christian Church for over 50 years. She was amember of the Order of Eastern Star, Corinthian Chapter 393 and an Honorary Member of Bethel #1 Jobs Daughters; member of OSU Group E Mothers Club, charter member and volunteer of Gillie Sr. Center, Westerville Sr. Center and Blendon Sr. Center. She was the first Food Broker in the State of Ohio with WorthingtonFoods where she was employed for 7 years. She was a guide for 5 years for the Division of the Blind. She was a volunteer worker at Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family. Many relatives and friends cherish her voice of wisdom and helping hand in time of need. Preceded in death by her parents George Washington and Mary Elizabeth Green, her husband of 69 years Clarence Haack Behling, daughter Betty Joanne Welch, grandson Mark Allen Heddleston, brothers Jerome, Glen, Felix, Hade and Justin Green, sisters Nannie Watson, Nora Prater, Winnie Young, Mishie Foster and Mattie Caton. Survived by her sons, John (Betty) Behling of Grove City, Jerry Behling of Dublin; grandchildren, Linda (Bill) Culp of Rock Hill SC, Mary Rubadue of Westerville, Lydia Heddleston of Columbus, Valerie (Greg) Shaver of N. Canton, Kim (Eric) Fry of New Lexington, Christine (Gary) Gassam of Murray, Ky, Jennifer (Jeremy) Knapp of Grove City, Mike (Carol) Behling of Columbus, IN, Theresa (Todd) McDunn of Hilliard; 23 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Arthel "Doc" (Rosalea Watson of Deep Gap, NC, David Watson of Boone, NC, Leny (Ruby) Watson of Wilburton, OK, Margaret Hughes of Plano, TX, Bertha Shirley of Boone, NC, Alma Hamby of Lenoir, NC, Paul Green of Fleetwood, NC, Louie Green of Massillon, Louise Hulney of Ft. Even at the age of 90 she was still driving her car and providing transportation to the needy or visiting the sick. She always helped the Association for the Blind, as her nephew Doc Watson was blind and she knew what a struggle it was to live with this handicap. Medford received 27 Awards for her volunteer work.
