Rites Held For R. Oscar Farned
Yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock a large number of relatives and friends assembled in the Chapel of Barry Funeral Home to pay final tribute to R. Oscar Farned, life long resident of Chickasaw County.

The rites were conducted by the Rev. O. L. Elliott of New Hope Methodist Church of which Mr. Farned was a member. With Mrs. Fred McGehee as accompanist, Miss Hellon Upchurch sanf "Sunrise Tomorrow." Burial was in the New Hope Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Farned, a retired farmer and cattle producer, died about 3 o'clock Tuesday morning at his home following an extended illness. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Farned pioneer citizens of the New Hope Community. He was 82.

In addition to his wife, the former Miss Lillian Prude, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. T. R. Murphree of Verona; a son Robert F. Farned; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Warner of Memphis; four grandchildren, Fred Murphree, a student at the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis, Glenda Sue Murphree of Verona, Mrs. Al Boatman of Waco,Texas and Bobby Farned, a student at Mississippi State University.
