In 1857 she was married to John Cain of Pennsylvania.
To this union were born three children, Anna, who died in infancy, John Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., and Mrs. J. E. Akes of this city. Mr. Cain died in 1865.
In 1867 she was married to Garret Southerland, a Civil War veteran, and came to Xenia, Illinois, to make her home. Garret Southerland died February 19, 1905.
Elizabeth Southerland united with the Methodist church early in life and remained good and faithful until called beyond.
She leaves to mourn her death two children, several grandchildren and a host of friends. She departed this life January 16, 1925.
Funeral services held at the Baptist church January 18, and the remains were laid to rest in Camp Ground cemetery.
