"A Sudden Death - Was that of Mrs George H Higgins last Monday evening, August 4, about 6 o'clock. Ever since Sunday, June 22, when she was stricken with paralysis while out driving with her husband, she has made a brave fight and patient struggle for life, at times much better, but for the last ten days was gradually failing. As Josephine E Scott, Mrs Higgins was born and raised in Spartansburg, Pa, where she has a father living, her mother dying some years ago. Two sisters and three brothers survive her, living near Russell and Garland, besides a devoted and affectionate husband and a bright, promising son, nearly man grown. As a school teacher before her marriage to Mr H at Titusville, Christmas, 1873 (sic) [1872], the deceased made many friends by her bright, genial disposition and attractive manners. She came to Warren with her husband in 1876, and has been a faithful and devoted wife and mother, her chief ambition being to make home happy. There are many in Warren and vicinity who knew and admired her for her true worth and many good qualities of mind and heart. She leaves a large circle of friends who deeply sympathize with the afflicted family. Her age was 39 years. The funeral takes place to-day (Wednesday) at 3 PM from her late residence in the Allen block, Dr Ryan, of the Episcopal church, officiating. Burial at Oakland."
