I have created this memorial because Erastus WAS interred here with
his wife and children and, a thief stole the large copper plaque that was
on their' stone sometime between 2003 and 2010. I know for certain is,
what I saw in the summer of 1997 ( names on plaque )and Erastus was there !

Erastus and Mary appear to have married around 1842.
In these census records : 1850, 1860, 1865, 1870, 1875, and 1880,
the family always lived in Spafford,N.Y and Erastus occupation was carpenter.
In the 1865 NY census, they are listed as having , " 8 " children and in the 1910 US census, Mary had, " 8 children born / 4 still alive".
From census records, these are their children : (1) Emily ( born Jan 1843 ), (2) Willard ( born Apr 1844 ), ( 3) Perry ( born Apr 1845 ), (4) Mary Jane / Jennie ( born Feb 1847 ), ( 5 )Helen ( born June 1853 ) , ( 6 ) Ida ( born Aug 1856 ) and ( 7 )Bruce ( born Nov 1865 ). This means one child is missing and I do not know who it would be, unless the child died in
infancy.

Erastus is a veteran of the American civil war ( Union side).
If this is correct, ( pension records from 1888 ), he was in the
8th Regiment, New York Heavy Artillery. *** Note that two of his sons served also. ***
