Aged 90 years. Veteran of the War of 1812.

The Anamosa Eureka (Iowa), Thursday 21 April, 1870, Page 3.
Died – On the 13th inst., at the residence of Philo Norton, Esq., in Wyoming, Moses Norton, in the 90th year of his age. The deceased was born in Waterbury, New Haven Co., Conn., August 23, 1780, married on 27th of March 1799, and, shortly after, in the same year, removed to Onondaga Co., N.Y., then an almost uninhabited wilderness. Having lived there 40 years, serving, in the meantime, through the war of 1812 – 14, he emigrated to the State of Michigan. Fourteen years ago, he came to this State, with his son Philo. While yet a young man he joined the M.E. Church, and was, ever after, a faithful and consistent Christian. During the past four years the infirmities of age sat heavily upon him. But all that filial affection and patient care could do to alleviate his suffering was rendered by his son Philo Norton, with whom he has lived many years. His funeral was attended by a large concourse of our citizens on the 15th. Thus, has gone to his reward one of the few links connecting us with the last century.
