Beatrice Ann Piper, age 93, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born March 20, 1930 in Climax Township, the daughter of the late Buhl and Blanche (Shurlow) Spooner, and was a lifelong resident of Climax.

Beatrice loved nature and all animals. She enjoyed reading and collecting crystals and Native American memorabilia, books, and figurines, and often gave to Native American charities. She also enjoyed keeping up her garden with flowers and herbs.

Beatrice was married to Gale A. Piper on November 3, 1951, who preceded her in death on July 9, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Bonnie Thomas.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Ron) Bushouse of Climax; grandchildren, Michelle (Jay) Jameson, William (Molly) Bushouse, and Dorothea "Dody" (Scott) Drummond; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Willis, Aaron Bushouse, Lucas Bushouse, Oliver Bushouse, Abigale Drummond, Lucian Shoup, Lance Shoup, Ashton Fox, Jordan Jameson, and Tyler Woodward; and her beloved dog, Gretel.

A graveside service will take place Thursday, February 8 at 11:30am at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, Michigan 49012. Those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at 11:20am.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of animals and newfound acquaintance, Emily Wycoff, who works with the rescue, donations may be made to Friends of Babbette (checks payable to Celine Saillant), and mailed to 2506 Ferdon Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
