Sarah Carol Baxley Poston, known affectionately as Carol by her loved ones, passed away peacefully at her home on January 29, 2024, at the age of 89.

Born on December 13, 1934, in Georgetown, South Carolina, Carol was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her.

Her life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. Carol's legacy is carried on through her loving family, including her daughter, Virginia Thompson; her grandchildren, Lonnie Earl Thompson Jr. (Cheryl) and Vanessa Lee Bone; and her great-grandchildren, Lonnie E. Thompson III, Christopher L. Bone (Tina), and Dawson O. Thompson. She also leaves behind a cherished sister, Yvonne Loveless (Randy); a brother, Joseph Baxley (Frances); and five adored great-great-grandchildren.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, George Washington Baxley and Azalee Ray Baxley; her beloved spouse, Jessie Doris "Tinker" Poston; her children, George Lynn Poston, Jackie Lee Collins, and Jessie Darrell Poston; a son-in-law Lonnie Earl Thompson Sr.; her brothers, John Coris Baxley, Raymond Baxley, and George Washington Baxley Jr.; her sister, Geneva Yarbrough; and her great-grandchild, Sidney J. Bone.

She was a woman of remarkable spirit and passion. Carol was devotion to her faith as a long-standing member of Williams Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She was known for her strong will, which she channeled into everything she did, from her diligent work in the textile industry to her unwavering support for her family and friends. Beyond her family and friends, Carol had a profound love for her dogs, who were her constant and loyal companions. Her interests also extended to her garden, where she spent countless hours tending to her plants, and to the excitement of fishing, where she found both relaxation and joy.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Williams Hill Freewill Baptist Church, 86 Williams Hill Road, Hemingway, SC 29554. Officiated by Pastor Doug Mathis, Reverend Daniel Stalvey, and Al Dennis. Burial to follow at Prosser Cemetery, 3359 Big Swamp Road, Pamplico, SC 29583.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Williams Hill Freewill Baptist Church 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
