Frederic Karlton Alden, 82, died Wednesday at home following a long illness.
Born in Maine, Mr. Alden had been a resident of Vallejo for 33 years. He worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard for 13 years, and retired in 1979 as an electrician.
A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II and the Korean conflict, retiring after 20 years in the service as a chief petty officer. He also served in the Civil Conservation Corps.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch No. 8; Mare Island Navy Yard Post 550 of the American Legion; Carl Kreh Post 1123 Veterans of Foreign Wars; was a former member of the Vallejo Elks Lodge No. 559, and was a volunteer in the Civil Air Patrol.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane of Vallejo; a daughter, Lorna Jane Reynolds of Vallejo; a son, Frederic George (Joy) of Italy; two sisters, Connie Parkman and Elaine, both of Maine; and a grandson, Christopher.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at Colonial Chapels, with the Vallejo Branch No. 8 Fleet Reserve Association officiating. Inurnment is private.
