Larry Hunt

ST. GEORGE - "Larry" Lorraine Hunt was born April 20, 1934 in Enterprise, Utah to Thomas Elmer and Emma Day Hunt. He died December 11, 2005 in St. George, Utah after a courageous battle against cancer. He was the youngest of eleven children who grew up in a loving family.

During his childhood, he enjoyed riding horses and herding cattle with his father and older brothers in the hills around Enterprise. Larry graduated from Enterprise High School and attended Dixie College on a basketball scholarship.

After serving in the US Army Larry moved to northern California, where he was employed by General Motors for many years. He married Rosalee Harris in 1957 (later divorced) and they were the parents of three children, Lisa Michele, Lorilee and David. Larry was chosen for several promotions by General Motors and transferred to southern California to open a new plant there in 1968. In 1975 Larry decided to move back to southern Utah to be near the open spaces he loved. He drove truck for Charlie Randall and then Jenkins Oil until his retirement in 1996.

In 1980 Larry married Barbara Bell Read and they spent 26 happy years together enjoying horse races, camping, fishing, traveling, sports, family activities and just being in Enterprise. They loved their blended family, including grandkids and recently great grandkids. Larry was also a true animal lover who will be missed by his dog, Danny. He had many lifelong friends. His wife Barb meant everything to him and she was devoted to him.

Larry is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Lisa Michele (David) Church, Lorilee (Mark) Jamison, David G. Hunt, Rick Read, Randy (Sharon) Read, Ron (Suzy) Read and Patti (Tyler) Esplin; 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Floyd (Lois) Hunt and Preston (Erin) Hunt and his sister, Geneva Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clair, Elwin, Ellis, Bill, Ivin and his sister, Ollie.

Larry was a member of the LDS Church and an honorable man in all he did. He was handsome and charming; his smile could light up the room. He loved listening to good music (especially when his granddaughters Jaime and Andrea sang) and good stories. Larry was known for being able to fix anything, having a good sense of humor and doing a job right. We will think of him every day. He will be loved, remembered and deeply missed.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Enterprise Stake Center, 88 S. Center St., Enterprise, UT.
