St. George, UT - Floyd D. Hunt, age 89, returned to his Heavenly home on November 6, 2012 in St. George, Utah. He was born to Elmer and Emma Hunt in Enterprise, Utah on June 4, 1923. He met a fellow country girl, Lois Turnbow, at a church dance. They later married on September 26, 1947 in the St. George Utah LDS Temple.

Floyd served in World War II. He spent time in Germany and Austria. Upon arriving home, he pursued a career in Cosmetology and opened one of the first Beauty Shops in St. George. Known as "Hunts House of Beauty" it was located on Main Street in downtown. It was there he gained many lifelong friends. Floyd also served as bishop, transit bishop, high priest group leader, stake finance auditor, stake high counselor and high counselor over Indian placement services, as well as a temple ordinance worker. He was very active and enjoyed watching the Utah Jazz, the BYU Cougars, and the hometown Dixie State College Rebels with family. He loved to quilt, crochet, sew, garden, cook jams, jellies, pumpkin pies, and his famous peanut brittle. Perhaps a little known fact about him was his artistic talent of painting pictures and creating beautiful flower arrangements. Above all, he was a family man and he lovingly cared for his dear wife until the end.

As described by his children, Dad was: Strong, forthright, faithful, diligent, honest, happy, loved life, a leader, a doer, spiritual, steady, friendly, loving, compassionate, and creative. He always sought for the best in life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and three sisters. He is survived by a brother, Preston Hunt, his sweet wife Lois Hunt, and his seven children: Ann Marie (Robert) Cox, Linda Sue (Gene) Neumann, Raquel (Dean) Steele, Floyd Maurice (Jennifer) Hunt, Reena Hunt, Daymon D (Dayna) Hunt, and Thom (April) Ranger. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of 51 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Main Street LDS Chapel, 166 South Main, St. George, UT. Visitations will be held on Monday, November 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., and on Tuesday, from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m., prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Enterprise Utah City Cemetery on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
