Avise had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as hunting and gardening. He had a unique affinity for mules and even owned a wagon. Avise found solace and peace in nature, often spending his free time exploring the beauty of the world around him. His love for the outdoors was infectious, and he inspired those around him to appreciate the simple joys of nature.

Avise's career as a glass mold maker and skilled laborer was a testament to his dedication and hard work. With his meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to excellence, he left an indelible mark on his profession. Avise took great pride in his work and always strove to deliver the best possible results.

His warm presence and kindhearted nature endeared him to everyone he encountered. Avise had a knack for making people feel valued and loved. His genuine interest in others' lives made him an exceptional listener and a trusted confidant. He had a calming presence that could put anyone at ease during difficult times, except when he was watching his beloved Alabama football team. Avise was a dedicated Crimson Tide fan, and you could be sure to hear him saying, "Roll Tide!" on football days.

Avise is survived by his sister, Zora "Tiny" Sims; his daughters, Tamara Allen and Carolyn Amerson; his sons, Brent Holden and Kirk Jackson; as well as his grandchildren, Delana Jackson and fiancé, Joseph Edwards; Griffin Holden and fiance, Monte Moraitakis; Courtney Amerson Durham; Ashlee Amerson; Gavin Jackson; Lukas Holden; and Tristen Amerson. His is also survived by his great-grandchildren Axton Edwards, Waylon Moratakis, and Jaxson Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Lou Jackson; his son Michael Holloway; his parents, Roy Rastee Allen and Oveder Benefield; and his brothers Travis Allen and Trenice Allen. Avise's role as a loving husband, father, and grandfather brought immense joy to his life. He cherished every moment spent with his family, creating lifelong memories filled with laughter and love.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Thomas Funeral Home in Calhoun, Georgia, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects and share fond memories of Avise during this time.

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, October 15, 2023, Thomas Funeral Home, starting at 4:00 PM. Reverand Chris Hall will lead the service in celebration of Avise's remarkable life and the impact he had on those around him. Pallbearers for the service include: Gavin Jackson, Trenton Childers, Jacob Mayo, Michael Treeman, Keith Allen, Billy Jackson, Brandon Sims, and Austin Dotson. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Heartlite Hospice as honorary pallbearers, whose caring staff took wonderful care of Avise.
