Rita was a data entry operator for Sagamon Card Company and the Department of Motor Vehicles. She was a member of the Parkview Church of the Nazarene in Fairview Heights, Ill. and the Taylorville First Church of Nazarene in Taylorville, Ill.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dudley and Hazel, nee Foster, Tippitt, her first husband, James McGehee, who died on July 7, 1982, two brothers, Rondal Tippitt and Gerald Tippitt, one sister, Zelma Haley, two brothers-in-law, Chester Basil and Wilbur Michels; and a sister-in-law, Gladys Tippitt.
Surviving are her husband, Merle Coffey whom she married on May 27, 1994 in Taylorville, Ill.; three children: James (Jill) McGehee of Bolingbrook, Ill., Carl (Maggie) McGehee of Macon, Ill., Kelly (Emmett) Calloway of Mascoutah, Ill.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl (Vivian) Tippitt of Clinton, Ill., Don Tippitt of Taylorville, Ill.; two sisters: Charlene Basil of Kincaid, Ill., Anna Michels of Oreana, Ill.; four sisters-in-law, Leah Bailey, Elsie Creason, Katie Tippitt, Opal Shotten; and numerous nieces and nephews.
