Born Dec. 22, 1936, in Kaylor, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Josephine Phillips Adams.
Josie was a homemaker.
She was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
She loved karaoke, dancing, cooking, and – above all – raising her kids.
Josie is survived by six children, Gene Stivason and his wife, Brenda, of Rimersburg, Terry Stivason, of Butler, Chuck Stivason, of Herman, Deborah Stivason, of New Castle, Jim Stivason, of Butler, and Mary Stivason, of Butler; one sister, Nora Eyth, of Chicora; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R. Stivason, who passed away Jan. 23, 1976; one son, Gary "Pete" Stivason, who passed away Nov. 12, 2007; eight brothers; and four sisters.
Friends will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Services and burial will be private.
