Phyllis A. Laudenklos, 85, of Columbus, Nebraska, (formerly of Monroe, Nebraska), died Monday, January 22, 2024, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 30, at Gass Haney Funeral Home.

Visitation will be on Monday, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM and visitation will continue Tuesday from 9:30 AM until service time, all at the funeral home.

Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.

Phyllis A. Laudenklos was born on March 3, 1938, in Schuyler, Nebraska to Frank and Albina (Mares) Parolek.

She attended District #3 school and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1956.

On May 26, 1962, Phyllis was united in marriage to Harold "Bob" Laudenklos at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. To this union was born one daughter, Karen.

Through the years, Phyllis worked as a waitress at Kasparek's Café and as a material handler and inspector for Dale Electronics.

For many years, Phyllis was a breeder and exhibitor of pinto and paint ponies. In 1991, she received the Friends of 4H Award. She was twice crowned Queen of the Wahoo Rodeo and was also Queen of the AKSARBEN Rodeo. In 2008, Phyllis received the Meritorious Service Award at the Rural Recognition Banquet and a 50 year leadership award from 4H. She was a member of the Pinto Horse Association of America and won numerous high awards for horse exhibition in both 4H and the Nebraska Pinto Horse Association. Phyllis also exhibited Beef and Dairy cattle for which she received many awards.

Phyllis served as a greeter at St. Isidore Catholic Church for many years.

She enjoyed her flowers, horses, painting ceramics, and listening to Western style music.

She loved spending time with her family and her dogs, Wrangler, Dallas, and Daisy.
