Hal Kelley
1935 - 2024

Heaven gained a wonderful BYU-loving cowboy. Hal Kelley, of Salem, Utah, was born in Moab, Utah, to Daniel Francis and Emma Stella Kelley on July 20, 1935. He passed away on January 15, 2024, at the age of 88.

Hal graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in social work. He had a passion for helping others and making a difference in the world by helping so many people overcome drug and alcohol addictions. Hal served three missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The first one was in Montana when he was 18, the second was with his wife, Kathleen, by his side, in Gallup, New Mexico, and the third one was in a Native American ward in Provo. A faithful member of the Church, Hal held numerous callings throughout his life. He was devoted to attending the temple regularly and loved the gospel and our Lord with great passion. He was humble and meek with everyone he met. He would never say one unkind word about anyone.

Hal was a #1 BYU football fan. You could place a bet on where he would be on a game night. On his down time, he would be relaxing in his chair with a good old Louis L'Amour book or watching a Western show. He loved horses, being outdoors, and landscaping. One of his great accomplishments was building and remodeling homes and even a solar home. He was a kind, generous, and loving man who would serve others at a moment's notice. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his children: Kevin Hal Kelley, Kristi Linn Kelley, Kolette Denise Kelley; his grandchild, Kassi Linn Kelley; his parents, Daniel and Emma Kelley; siblings: Van Kelley, Lynn Kelley Mink, and Lorin Kelley; and first wife, Merlene Kelley.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kathleen Kelley; children: Kamille (Boyd) Livingston, Jeff (Kathi) Adams, Kim (Rob) Evans, Kristy (Brad) Woodhouse, Brad (Alicia) Adams, Dave Adams; grandchildren: Kolden (Casey) Hilburn, Taylor (Dallas) Gough, Connor (Addie) Livingston, Kody (Janee) Gauer; J.D (Katie) and Brianna Adams; B.J., Sarah, Lulu, Cameron, Barbara Evans; Sheldon (Sierra), Katie (Rhett) Rhodes, Emily, Brayden and Jessica Woodhouse; McKinley, Madison, McKay Smith and Stephen Adams; Tatyana Bell, Austin, Nathan and Baylee Adams; great-grandkids: Mason and Peyton Hilburn; Brody, Ryker, Bronson and Avery Gough, Kase Livingston, Easton, Harper, Bentley and Kieron Gauer; Camila Woodhouse; Trevor and Roanin Rhodes; Noemi Parra; Jaybez, Bodan and Waylon Bell.
