July 8, 1931 - January 7, 2024

Arlington , Texas - Joan M. Ackley, age 92, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on January 7, 2024. She was born on July 8, 1931, in Cranston, Rhode Island, to the late John and Freda McKeith. Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Ackley, and her brothers Johnny, Jim, and Bruce McKeith.

Joan was a woman of faith and found great joy in serving others. She was an Army chaplain's wife who traveled the world and dedicated her life to ministering to those around her. Joan had a passion for protecting the unborn and shared the gospel with everyone she met. She had great fashion sense and was known for her beautiful hats. Joan was an excellent cook and loved entertaining her family and friends. She also had a talent for quilting, sewing, and creating crafts especially as Christmas gifts. Joan attended Haverford High School in Pennsylvania, and studied at Shelton College and Reformed Episcopal Seminary.

Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Susan Crosier, and her husband Rusty; her cherished grandchildren, Robbie Crosier and his wife Skylar, and Elisabeth Crosier; her sister, Jane Steinman, and her husband Curt, and her sister, Jean McIntyre. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

A celebration of Joan's life will be held on January 19 at 4:00 pm at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas. A graveside burial will take place on February 9 at 11:00 am at Deerfield Presbyterian Church in New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, Joan requested that donations be made in her memory to the following organizations: Child Evangelism Fellowship, Joni & Friends, Samaritans Purse, Bible League, Voice of the Martyrs, Christian Friends of N. Korea, Heifer International, Mission Arlington, and Metroplex Women's Center.

Wade Family Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joan will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness, faith, and love for her family and community will be remembered and cherished forever.
