Eddie Jack Abercrombie, age 70, of Gainesville, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Landmark Hospital following an extended illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1939, in Hall County, to William Earl Abercrombie and Annie Geneva Ellis Abercrombie. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at the Ward's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Floyd Haynes and the Rev. Jerry Ray will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home. He retired from Ferrell Gas Co. and was of the Assembly of God faith. Mr. Abercrombie is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Faye Peck Abercrombie, and his brother-in-law, Doyle Robinson. Eddie is survived by daughter, Anita (Clyde); son, Tony; three grandchildren, Tyler, Summer, and Savanna; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia and Danny, Joyce, Ginny and James, and Betty and Bobby; niece and nephew, Shannen and J.T.; numerous other nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ward's Funeral Home, 758 Main St., S.W., Gainesville is in charge of arrangements.
