She was a faithful member of Pate Chapel Church for over forty years, where she taught generations of children in Sunday school. She loved spending time with her family, sharing her faith in Jesus Christ, baking, gardening, and watching the wildlife from her back porch.
Guenda is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, James Greer of Murphysboro, her two sons Andy (Heather) Greer of Makanda and Daniel (Christy) Greer of Carterville, her six grandchildren Ashley (Callie Buchanan) Hickam, Skylar Greer, Elijah (Jaylynn) Greer, Jared Greer, Christian Greer, and Josiah Greer, her three great-grandchildren Spencer, Jayelle, and Avalon, three sisters; Wanda (Pat) Melton of Japan, Velta (Robert)Angier of Dixon, and Verna Franklin of Springfield and two brothers; Delbert (Annette) Barnett of Junction and Derrel (Andrea) Barnett of Elm City, North Carolina. She also leaves behind a large number of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and honorary family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters Audra Matthews and Jessie Collins.
There will be a visitation at Pate Chapel in Murphysboro on Wednesday, January 3rd from 5 to 8 p.m. Another visitation will be held at Leamington Church on Thursday, January 4th from 8 a.m. until service time at on 10 a.m. with Pastors Andy and Daniel Greer will officiating the service.
