Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Leamington Community Church with the Rev. James R. Hubbard officiating. Burial will be at the Leamington Cemetery in Junction. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2001, at the Leamington Church. Arrangements are in the charge of the Vickery Funeral Chapel, Shawneetown.
He was born Feb. 12, 1910 in Leamington to the late John T. and Nancy Florence (Saylor) Barnett. He married the former Virgie Leonberger on July 8, 1935.
He was a member of the Leamington Community Church and a church deacon for 64 years. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Cave-in-Rock Lodge No. 444.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Delbert (Annette) Barnett, Junction; Derrel (Andrea) Barnett, N.C.; five daughters, Jesse Collins, Junction; Wanda (Pat) Melton, Japan; Velta (Robert) Angier, Dixon; Verna (Bill) Franklin, Springfield; Guenda (Jim) Greer, Murphysboro; 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Audra Matthews, two grandchildren, one sister, and 11 brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Leamington Church.
