Vernelia G. (Barr) Recupero, 79, of Dillsburg passed away Friday, January 05, 2024 in Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill with her family by her side.
Born March 03, 1944 in Clymer, she was the daughter of the late William Sides and Beatrice (Weston) Barr.
Vern was a 1962 graduate of Purchase Line High School, Indiana County.
She worked for Sears in the Capital City Mall.
Vern volunteered for over twenty years at New Hope Ministries, Dillsburg. She was a woman of faith, attending several churches in the area throughout the years.
She had a green thumb and an eye for creativity. She maintained beautiful flower beds and indoor plants and was crafty - creating all kinds of unique house-hold decorations.
Vern was an excellent sewer - making Halloween costumes for her kids.
She loved playing the piano and organ,
Vern made an awesome pineapple upside-down cake.
She looked forward to family vacations in Wildwood, New Jersey, attending car shows in Hershey with her husband: Jim, and going out to eat with family and friends.
Vern could be feisty, yet sensitive and she would make it a point to put family first in life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Rozella Emigh and Nancy Brocious; and, her brothers: William Barr and Elmer Barr.
Vern is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years: James Recupero, Jr. of Dillsburg; her sons: Bruce Recupero of Pittsburgh and Frank (Cindy) Recupero of New Cumberland; her sisters: Greta Meece of Louisville, Kentucky and Beula Wolf of Indiana; her brothers: Richard Barr of Strongstown and Frank Barr of Clymer; her nieces and nephews; her great-niece: Audrey; and, her great-nephew: Eli.
A Visitation will be held from 03:00 - 04:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2024 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Funeral Services will begin at 04:00 PM.
Private Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
