Iris was born March 30, 1938 in Cheylen, West Virginia to Cecil and Virginia (Canterbury) Akers.
She is survived by her brother, Paul (Vickie) Akers; her husband Elbert of 66 years; children Barbara (Bruce) Given, Glenna Kemper and Albert (Paige) Kemper; grandchildren, Sandy (Glen) Robinson, Sarah (Scott) Huffman, John Ferrell, Ashley (Ellory) Wells, Tyler (Elaine) Kemper, Jacquelyn, Hannah, Samantha and Aaron Kemper, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Ferrell, and siblings, Jerry, Cecil Jr., Ronald, Gayle and Betty.
Iris worked at Western Rubber Co. for 17 years. She was very hard-working and generous, faithfully caring for her husband and daughter, Glenna, for many years. She loved to cook and was known for her homemade candy and hillbilly hotdogs. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family and friends.
Her viewing will be at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home on January 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on January 3 also at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Goshen.
