Obituary of Mae A. Sookiasian
Mae A. Sookiasian, 97, of Manheim, PA, was called home by the Lord on Tuesday morning, December 19, 2023, at Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in South Heidelberg Twp., Berks County, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Elsie B. Hoffman Van Art. She was the wife of the late G. Victor Sookiasian who died in 1989.

She was a member of Grace Church in Lititz and a former member of Bible Fellowship in Sinking Spring. Mae was a 1944 graduate of Wernersville High School. She was employed as store manager by Talbotts in Womelsdorf for 10 years. Previously, she was employed as store manager by the former Schofers Bakery in Shillington.

Mae was a charter member of Silver Foxes Dance Group at Pleasant View Retirement Community. She also enjoyed swimming and hiking her entire lifetime.

She is survived by a son, Michael D., husband of Brenda L. Borkey Lutz of Lititz, a daughter-in-law, Ruby Lehman, wife of Gary, of Manheim; four grandchildren, Jennifer Zepp, Erin Martin, Steven Lutz, Kara Stager; five great grandchildren, Hunter and Chase Zepp, Lily and Piper Lutz, and Athena Stager. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Lutz and her siblings, Lawrence H. Van Art, Ruth V. Ressler, and Melvin R. Van Art.

Services for Mae will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held privately in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
