Marjorie was born February 22, 1926, in Midland, SD, the daughter of John E. and E. Berniece Elrod. Music was a major part of her life. At the age of 12 she began playing piano for her church and accompanied the pastor to country churches. She graduated from Midland High School and attended University of South Dakota. She lived in Chicago for 2 years and then returned to South Dakota and married E. Robert Hedman in 1948. Throughout their years living in South Dakota, North Dakota, Virginia, California and Kansas she was a church organist and piano teacher.
Marjorie was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and PEO Chapter GQ in Lawrence, KS. In addition to music, she enjoyed golf, bridge, travel, and gardening. Most importantly she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her grandchildren cherish memories of their fun, creative visits with Grandma.
Marjorie leaves a loving and grateful family, including two daughters, nine grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, E. Robert Hedman; her brothers Donald Elrod, Howard Elrod and Charles Elrod and great granddaughter Olivia Bloomfield.
