Joann Richards Wells was born on July 24, 1933 to JD Richards and Grace Terry Richards in Waco, Texas. She had one sister, Joyce Richards Shelton. May 12, 1951, Joann married Weldon Clay Wells. She had four sons - Dale, Wayne, Keven and Troy - and one daughter Donna. Joann was always very active in church and family activities. Weldon and Joann were married 52 years when Weldon passed away. Joann has always been a caregiver, providing hospice care for her mother-in-law, assisting her sister in caring for their mother, and in later years caring for both her sister and her niece in nursing homes. In more recent years she has enjoyed traveling to visit family throughout the country. In her final days in-person visits were restricted due to Covid isolation, but she was visited by many family members through FaceTime, coordinated by her granddaughter. Joann passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, with her grandson at her side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, and her son Wayne. She welcomed many others into her family, whether through birth, adoption, or marriage, but once in the family, always in the family. Not even divorce could remove one from her family. She is loved and will be missed by her remaining children and their spouses, 33 grandchildren, and 50 great grandchildren, plus extended family and innumerable friends throughout the land.
