MRS.CONNERLY, AGED MEMBER OF PIONEER FAMILY, DIES AT 83

Ms. Josephine Connerly, youngest daughter and last surviving child of a Chambers county pioneer settler, James Taylor White, died in Austin Sunday evening, November 28, 1948, at the age of 83.
Mrs. White was born in the historic White family home on Turtle Bayou,scene of the passage of the Turtle Bayou Resolutions, preceding the war between Texas and Mexico. She was one of six children of James Taylor, Robert Monroe and Forrest E. White, Mrs. Amanda Smith and Mrs. Sara Broussard. A resident of Austin for over 50 years, Mrs. Connerly was the widow of Fred T. Connerly, who was for more than 20 years chief clerk of the Texas Supreme Court. A daughter Mrs. Harold Fisher died a year ago.
Mrs. Connerly had been active in the social and civic life of the state capitol city during her long residence. She had visited relatives and friends in this area each year for many years, including a visit to a number of nieces and nephews in Anahuac, Stowell and elsewhere are the survivors.
Services were held at the Connerly residence in Austin at 2 pm Tuesday, with the Rev. Charles A.Summers of St. David's Episcopal Church conducting the last rites. Interment was at Austin.
Mrs. Bertha White Hailer and J.E. Broussard of Anahuac, Mrs. G. B. Hamilton of Stowell, and Mrs. Anna Edwards of Beaumont attended the services.
