She was born on June 10, 1930, in Sturgis, KY, to the late Brilla Markham Collins and Carroll Dean Collins. She was formerly employed at J C Penney. Her greatest joy was taking care of others. Dortha was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Madisonville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Gatlin; son, Steve Gatlin; brothers, Richard Collins, Donald Collins, Arnold Collins, James Collins, and George Collins; and sisters, Bessie Mills, Norma Jean Collins, Joan Collins, and Mildred Morgan.
Survivors include her sons, Darrel (Pam) Gatlin of Lexington, Gary (Kim) Gatlin of Madisonville, and Brian (Christie) Gatlin of Scottsville, KY; brothers, Fred Collins of Morganfield, KY and Thomas (Sandra) Collins of Newburgh, IN; sisters, Bonnie Uzzle of Waverly, KY and Marjorie Besch of Charleston, IL; grandchildren, Haley Tracy, Corey Gatlin, John Gatlin, Samantha Gatlin, Brittany Gatlin-Lloyd, and Briana Gatlin; two great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Bro. Kerry Smith officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
