Carol Maxine Millsaps, 85 of Robbinsville, NC took her last earthly breath at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023.

She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Rev. Frank James Sr and Hollis (Sis) Elizabeth Dockery James.

Maxine accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior many years ago at Sweetgum Baptist Church and spent the majority of her life serving him.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, preacher/pastor's wife and leader of The Gospel Travelers, a family singing group. Maxine didn't know a stranger and welcomed anyone and everyone into her home and made sure no one ever left hungry or in need. She left us with so many memories of her helping others and her life was a testimony of shining a light for Jesus and being a good and faithful servant.

If you are reading this and you're not certain where you will spend eternity. Maxine would have wanted us to use this opportunity to tell you about Jesus and how to be saved. Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Maxine was a woman that believed in hard work and had many talents. She was a past Worthy Matron of The Order Eastern Star Robbinsville Chapter #224. She was a lead gospel singer, played the guitar, and wrote over 60 gospel songs. She was a licensed Real Estate Agent, a Notary Public that never charged anyone for that service, she was very talented in the furniture building and woodworking trade, and she had a green thumb. Maxine loved to cook for as many as possible and loved to joke and see others happy and laughing.

Maxine's family was one of her many blessings that she was very thankful for. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Frank James Jr., sister's Christine Gregory and Emma Jean Stewart.

She is survived by her Husband of 47 years, Ray Millsaps; sister and brother in law Denise and Jodie Ensor of Maryville, TN; son and daughter in law, Gary and Susie West of Nashville, TN; Daughter and son in law Cathy and Marlon Jackson of Robbinsville, NC; Grandchildren and their spouses; Bucky and Mckenzie Jackson of Robbinsville, NC; Kyle West of Texas; Kaleb and Hannah West of Chattanooga, TN; Great-Grandchildren, Gracey Jackson, Bucky Jackson Jr, Colton, Jace, and Soraya West; and Great-Great-Grandson Bentley Crisp.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, December 7th 2023, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The reverends Roger Orr and Max Turpin will officiate.

Burial will follow the service at Lower Yellow Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 pm at the Chapel prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Long Creek Baptist Church, P.O. Box 378, Robbinsville, NC 28771 in Maxine's Memory.
