1902 Ralph Winslow 1959

Ralph LeRoy Winslow was born Dec. 27, 1902 at Colfax, Iowa, the son of Charlie and Carrie Winslow. He attended school at Fertile, Minn., and later moved to Flandreau, S.D. In 1925, he moved to South Bend, Ind., where he was employed as a painter for Studebaker Corp. In 1930, he came to Austin. He resided at 1002 Gleason and was employed at Geo. A. Hormel & Co. the past 28 years, seven months. On June 19, 1925, he was united in marriage with Myrtle Hyland at East St. Olad Lutheran Church, Rock Dell, Minn. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Austin Boating Club and Local No. 9, UPWA.

Mr. Winslow drowned June 17 while vacationing in English River, Ear Falls, Ontario, Canada. He died doing something he was attached to very much-fishing. He loved the life of the outdoors. He was a loving husband and kind father and will be sadly missed by his family, relatives and friends. Blessed be his memory.

Mr. Winslow is survived by his wife, Myrtle; three daughters, Mrs. Harold Hoffman (Ruth), 2110 Winona, Mrs. Eugene Jorgenson (Betty), Austin Rt. 4, Karen, at home; a son, Marvin of Mankato; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John L. Heim (Lois), Anacortes, Wash. He was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, two sisters, a brother.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. June 22 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the Rev. A. L. Swenson officiating. Interment was in Grandview Memorial Gardens with the Mayer Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Ed Jirele sang the hymns. Pallbearers were Fred Ludke, Emil Marcks, Randall Perkins, Luverne Leidall, John Snyder, Harvey Todalen.

Persons attending the funeral came from Anacortes, Wash., Carmel, Calif., Rochester, Kasson, Byron, Hayfield, Spring Valley, Albert Lea, Hayward, Waltham, Blooming Prairie, Oronoco, Lakeville.
