Benjamin Bowman is the son of the Anabaptist Rev Jakob Baumann, aka Jacob Bowman, who immigrated to Philadelphia from Basel, Switzerland in 1737 on the ship the "Charming Nancy." He is the son of Jacob's 3rd wife Catherine "Wine" (actually Wein). Benjamin married his 2nd wife, Hannah nee Ulery, the widow of John Wesley Studebaker on 9 Aug 1850. His first wife and the mother of his children was Elizabeth Shideler born in Washington Co Pa and she died in Wayne, Indiana (1787-1838). They were married about 1801 in Washington Co Pa (Contributor Jrigdon #48604325).
