Calvert was a devoted husband and father. He took great pride in his family and spending time with them, as much as he could. Some of his favorite past times with all the kids was to go fishing and hunting, and he always made time to make homemade ice cream with them.
He also loved to travel with his sister and brother-in-law to listen to bluegrass music, go camping with them, and he loved calling friends to catch up.
Cal never knew a stranger. Everywhere he went, he was known to make friends. His loving personality and big hugs left a lasting impression on everyone.
Calvert is preceded in death by his parents Wilburn and Ruby Amidon, brothers Gilbert, Bud and Willis, his sister Kathy Dooley and his grandson Charles (CB) Amidon.
Calvert is survived by his wife Ruth Amidon, brother Doyle Amidon, and brother-in-law Buster Dooley. Calvert and Ruth had four children. His daughter Ramona Amidon and her husband Mark Evans, son Charles Amidon and his wife Cindy, daughter Nancy Gwyn Amidon, and son Jimmy Amidon and his wife Tami.
Grandchildren Russell Tschoerner and his wife Samantha, Craig Tschoerner and his wife Megan, Tabitha (Amidon) LaCroix and her husband Cody, Courtney Amidon, Callie (Amidon) Duke and her husband Chris, Randy and his wife Melissa, Vicky and her husband Weston, Tonya and her husband Enoch.
Great Grandchildren Jesse, Cody, Sadie, Caden, Kaleb, Ainsley, Calder, Wyatt, Landon, Morgan and Alison.
