Though Dewey's gravemarker gives his birth year as 1900, his Death Certificate, and the book "Grandfather Community", by Ted Shook, show his birth year as 1898. The marker appears to be newer than the others in the cemetery, probably placed by his son, Varden, who took care of the cemetery until his death.
