"CORONER'S INQUEST: The coroner's inquest to determine the cause of the late Hugh Corrigan's death, after hearing the testimony of the railroad hands yesterday morning returned the following: "We find that Hugh Corrigan came to his death by the northbound freight train running over his body which passed through the city of Perry at or about 2:25 o'clock Monday morning October 22, 1894 and that the Santa Fe railroad company is guilty of criminal negligence through the neglect of the employees in charge of said train and further that said railroad company is responsible for the death of Hugh Corrigan." Hugh is survived by his parents, his wife, Anna (Annie), and seven children. The youngest is only two months old.
