Bessie Virginia Carlyle was born in Winchester City on 1 Jan 1907 to William Alexandra Carlyle and Beulah Virginia Lake. She was the second child born to them and their first girl. She had an older half-sister, Carrie Belle, from a previous relationship her mother had before the marriage to her father, William.
Her mother died in 1918 when Bessie was eleven so she went to live with her older half-sister, Carrie Belle.
Bessie married Emory Otis Fristoe in 1925 at the age of 18. They had six children together.
Bessie died at Warren Memorial Hospital at the age of 77 on 8 Feb 1985 from "cardiorespiratory arrest".
