Ross was the son of John Bryarly and Mary Hayner.

Porter County Vidette - April 17, 1884 - Rossie Bryarly - OBITUARY - Died in Washington township on Sunday, 6th instant, of paralysis of the brain, Rossie, youngest child of John and Mary Bryarly, aged 16 months and three weeks. The parents would respectfully thank the kind friends and neighbors who so tenderly sympathized with them in this sad bereavement, and Dr. Cattron who attended him till out of danger, when for one short week he seemed perfectly well but then in the midst of his play sank to know them no more.
