Frank grew up on his father's Rosedale farm. In 1916 he married Edna M. Davidson in the Sault. They moved out to San Francisco, California after that, where Frank worked as a boilermaker and they had two sons together. In the summer of 1920 they moved back to Chippewa County, where daughter Phyllis was born and where, in the late 1920s, Frank founded the Hiawathaland Filling Station on the main highway into town. It was a prosperous business, and many relatives of his worked there over the years. In 1934 he died in a car accident, leaving the gas station to his widow and sons. His car accident fatality saw a funeral procession of cars that was two miles long.
