Vermadean Mae Landez, 87, of Kendallville, Indiana, died Friday, November 3, 2023, at Ascension Sacred Heart Home in Avilla.

She was born May 14, 1936, in Garrett, Indiana, to Jack and Helen (Peters) Anderson.

On March 24, 1955, in Angola she married Bartolo M. "Bart" Landez, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1998.

Mrs. Landez was a homemaker.

Vermadean spent her entire life taking care of her family, cooking, and having get-togethers as she dearly loved her family.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avilla.

Surviving are three daughters, Yolanda Merriman of Rome City, Esther Fischer of Avilla, and Connie Schuster of Rome City; three sons, Bart A. Landez, Jr. of Kendallville, Lee Landez of Kendallville, and Felix Landez of Kendallville; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three sons, Oscar Landez, Bartholomew Landez, and Barry Landez; two grandchildren, Debra L. Teeple Sprau and Christopher Lee Landez; two great-grandchildren, Skyler Zane Sprau and Destiney Ryan Sprau; and two brothers, Keith Anderson and Jack Anderson.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Avilla.

Pallbearers are Jeffrey Teeple, Nick Landez, Mike Landez, Shaun Landez, Alex Mapes, and Bernie Fischer.

Memorials may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation.
