Hilbun Pete Walker, 91, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon at First Baptist Madison. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon. A graveside service will follow at Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
Pete was born in Mize, Mississippi on November 18,1931 to M.C. "Chester" and Minnie Walker. He graduated in the class of 1951 from E. E. Bass High School in Greenville, Mississippi. Pete retired from Martin Marietta in Huntsville, Alabama in 1990.
Pete was a faithful member of First Baptist Madison where he was a member of the Miller Men's Bible Fellowship Group and the Legacy Builders. He was a talented singer and sang in a quartet for years. He also led hymns for the Legacy Builders monthly luncheons. Pete was also a gifted woodworker with the ability to make or fix anything. His most recent woodworking ministry was making beautiful wooden crosses.
He is preceded in death by his parents, M.C. "Chester" and Minnie Sullivan Walker, his sisters Inez Walker Smith, Climmie Ree Walker Stone, and Glendolyn Sullivan Holloway and his brothers Ulande Walker and Thomas Walker.
Pete is survived by his spouse of 29 years, Dahlia Walker; daughters Elaine Walker Jefferies (Mike) and Brenda Walker and son Randy Walker. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Pete will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, and friend.
