My father saw a sign for free kittens in his neighborhood on a hot summer day and adopted a solid black male kitten he named "Tidwell". We thought the name was very clever and fun. Daddy came up with it on his own. Tidwell became a wonderful cat for daddy but he never liked any strangers and daddy was the only person Tidwell bonded with, he was very nervous. Daddy had a special ability of comforting and training his cats, a spiritul connection with animals he had been gifted with, even feral cats trusted him and often visted his home . Tidwell always ran and hid when I visited so it was rare to get a photo of him. He was very close to his cat mate Daisy and he liked to groom her and sleep beside her , later he also had another female cat mate Linda. Tidwell became more trusting of me later in life but still hid from most strangers. When he was ill with cancer. I was able to brush his fur and he loved the extra attention. Tidwell lost alot of weight and daddy said one day he found him passed away next to his water bowl one morning. Daddy missed him alot because Tidwell was with him for many years and slept with him at night. He was a gentle sweet cat and gave daddy alot of company. "We'll see you in heaven Tidwell".
