Alan Dwight Carr, Sr., 92, of Macon, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Hart's Chapel at the Cupola, with the Reverend Joe Bowker officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Son of the late Cecil Lewis Carr and Virginia Shores Carr, Mr. Carr was born in Griffin, Georgia on December 14, 1930.

He served his country honorably as an Army veteran and then committed himself to 35 years of service at the Post Office.

After retirement, he relished in the beauty and tranquility of Lake Sinclair together with his wife, where he enjoyed his hobbies of fishing and gardening.

His dedication extended to his spiritual life as a devoted member of Berean Baptist Church. Mr. Carr's life was a testament to his character, a life lived fully and generously. His legacy will be carried forward by those whose lives he touched and enriched.

Mr. Carr is survived by his son, Alan D. Carr, Jr. (Tisha); daughter, Deborah Clarke (Ken); five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Jean Carr; brother, Cecil Carr; and his sister, Edith Carr Gilbert (FaG #37204495).

The family would like to thank Enhabit Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care.
