Former Elwood Man Succumbs

Otis Dwight Allen; age 41, of McPherson, Kan., died near Santa Fe, New Mexico, in a plane crash while enroute to Albuquerque, New Mex., Sunday. It is believed Mr. Allen who was flying his own plane, suffered a heart attack causing the crash. The plane burst into flames and Mr. Allen received severe burns.
Born in Elwood on March 29, 1905. He was the son of Chester and Mabel Allen. He married to Miss Gladys Evans of Waveland, who survives. Mr. Allen owned and operated the Refrigeration Engineer at McPherson. He was a member of the Free Methodist church.
Survivors include the wife, Gladys and eight children; Dwight Jr., Richard, Robert, Edwin, William, Joan, Lois and Daniel, all at home; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Chester Allen of this city and the following brothers and sisters; Howard Allen of Elwood, Bruce Allen of Applegate, Calif., Gene Allen of Elwood, Mrs. Clara Bell Davis of Woodland, Calif., Mrs. Mary Williams of Elwood, Karl Allen of Indianapolis, Billie and Don Allen of Elwood.
The body is being shipped to the York Memorial Home in this city. Funeral arrangements have not completed.
